Blank Canvas Needs Inspiration

At the moment in my studio I have a large blank canvas. I've had this canvas I'm ashamed (again) to for over three years. Jim bought me an easel for my birthday and so now the canvas has somewhere to sit but is still blank.
I just don't know what to put on it.

So now that I am a recovering procrastinator I am looking at what I want to put on it. One thing i do know is that it will be pink. Why because that's the only oil paint I own at the moment.

Anyway the reason I've posted this picture is I love the painting in the background (no idea who did it), and may try something similar. I like the dogs too.

First Issue of Spark!

I have had this publication on my to-do-list for, I'm ashamed to sat for the last 10 years. Yay! I got it done!
Now I just have to get it into shops. I have it for sale on Etsy.
It's the first step in the right direction for me.
I've showed it to a few friends and family, everyone seems too like it and I'm surprised at which cartoons they like.
I'm halfway through the next issue. So stay tuned.

Chinese memoir

I've started writing my graphic novel about my time in China. I know the memoir has been done to death in graphic novel form, but I think there is a good reason for that. Sometimes words aren't enough and sometimes a straight linear narrative is not enough to convey all aspects.

I've been meaning to do this for ages and I'm tired of constantly starting my sentences with "When I was in China..." So as a way of preventing this from happening all the time I'm writing it.

Here is a couple of panels from the first story...

Woman with blue shadow

This woman is pissed off. She looks like she's heard the excuse she is listening to before.

Blue Haired Girl

I think I am guilty of underestimating the importance of scribbling and doodling. When there is no pressure to create something amazing often the amazing happens.

So this is one of my phone doodles. I find I draw a lot of faces I need to now focus on drawing bodies better.

I have a theory that drawing a figure or a character should become as automatic as signing your name. Little by little I focus on going toward this.

What do I know about this character? She's a Victorian era girl, a little bit like Alice in Wonderland.
She is looking at something and really thinking or listening, observing an incident or making her mind up about something.

Learning to Love You More

If you haven't seen this great website please check it out. www.learningtoloveyoumore.com
I've submitted photographs for Assignment #43 Make an exhibition of the art in your parent's house.

I chose my mum's house to make the exhibition out of. Most of the art on the walls is either made by me or my sister, but I chose the art that wasn't. And you know it was a really interesting experience to look at what Mum had there. Many artworks had just become background images of life at home, but with choosing them and thinking about what to say about them was really revealing. Many pictures are symbolic of our values as a family and as individuals.
I took photos of dad's house before he moved to Cairns as another option for the project, but you can only have one so I chose mum's house. I might put them up on the blog a bit later just for fun.

New house

I might be jinxing my self by putting these photos up before we have signed the contract but I can't help myself. This is going to be our new home in about a month.

I never thought I'd be a property owner - it feels nice and I am truly grateful.

Creationmyth now has an online shop at Etsy

I've only got a couple of things for sale at Etsy for the moment. I've got plans for my Etsy site, my zine should be finished shortly and I have intentions to have some black and gold leaf paintings as well as some lino cuts for sale this year. I'm really enjoying the whole process of having a little shop. Four people have already hearted my shop - and only one of them is a friend!

Check it out: www.creationmyth.etsy.com.

Dog Tennis

At my sister's over Easter we discovered a great new sport - Dog Tennis. The aim of the game is to have as much fun as possible and make your tennis ball all slimey.
The best part of the game for the human is that you don't have to go get the ball if it goes right into the corner of the court.
It the photos here Felix and Melissa compete with Jim and Jade.
Putting a lot of effort in on such a hot day soon flaked out and took the ball to the shade and quitely chewed it.
